A Stupid Simple Way to Get More Gym Members

You want to get more gym members, right? If I asked, you’d probably say that you’d love to get more members. But in reality, I’m not so sure.

Often times we talk to people who want to work with us on high level stuff like technical SEO, multivariate testing, competitive analysis and blah blah blah. Don’t get me wrong, these things are great and can be highly effective for your business when they’re part of an overall strategy.

We like to compare your business and online marketing to exercising. Would you attempt a 500lb deadlift without knowing how to properly deadlift? Here’s the most cliche example in the book, “Walk before you run”. I just mentally vomited, but it had to be said.

One things we’ve noticed over the years of helping fitness business is that most of them need to focus on the fundamentals. For example, you shouldn’t be running online ads until your website works well. You must master the foundations before moving on to the higher level stuff.

In the title of this post, I promise you a stupid simple way to get more gym members.


You probably think this advice is way too elementary and you’re way beyond something so simple.

You’re not.

One thing we’ve noticed is that many gyms simply don’t answer the phone. I don’t think they realize how many potential customers they might be losing or how many current customers might be leaving to their competitors.

If your business doesn’t always answer the phone during working hours then you need to focus on that first. Once you master that, you can move on to the next level.

It’s not a question of whether or not someone is going to buy. The question is: are they going to buy from you?

So that’s my stupid simple way for you to get more gym members. Answer the phone.
