We are back with another holiday edition marketing blog! I-rish we thought of some of these campaigns ourselves, but you can always contact us if you want to run some lucky targeted ads. St. Patrick’s Day 2021 is going to look a little different than most years, although it will not be completely canceled like last year. Cities are not hosting parades, but you can still enjoy a Guinness, drink a Shamrock Shake, and snack on some O’Riginal donuts.
Regardless of what is going on in the world, St. Patrick’s Day is a lovely day for a Guinness. However, Guinness is spreading the wealth this year with a St. Patrick’s Day charity campaign. The Irish dry stout brand is encouraging consumers to post pictures on social media and use the hashtag #StacheForCharity. For each post, Guinness will donate $1, up to $100,000, to a nonprofit that donates to communities in need. This is the perfect way to get their name out on social media, while also doing good for the community. Order a dark one this St. Patrick’s Day, post a pic, and tag us too (@ppl_labs).
McDonald’s is back again with the fan-favorite Shamrock Shake. The shake is green, mint-flavored, and delicious. McDonald’s also offers the Shamrock Oreo McFlurry, which is the same flavoring with Oreos blended in it. Similar to how Starbucks is with pumpkin spice, the limited availability of the Shamrock Shake makes consumers want it more. This year, it became available on February 15th and will only run through St. Patrick’s Day. The one month of availability increases urgency and prompts customers to return during that month. McDonald’s increase in sales this month is not luck: it is the Shamrock Shake.
The term, “limited time” is a lot more urgent when the time is one day and one day only. Krispy Kreme turns their OG glazed donuts green on St. Patrick’s Day. They even change the name from “Original Glazed Donuts” to “O’Riginal Glazed Donuts”. These specialty donuts are available for preorder and in-store purchase while supplies last. Changing the color of a food is not a ground-breaking idea but it is effective when a brand as classic as Krispy Kreme does it. No one can resist their glazed donuts, especially when they are green!
Bravo Maine offers cooking classes and has been offering online classes throughout the pandemic. This is perfect for those who aren’t quite ready to go out to a restaurant or want to steer clear of the crowds this St. Patrick’s Day. Bravo Maine created a Facebook page for the $25 online event in which they will be cooking a traditional Irish meal. Those who sign up will receive a list of ingredients they need prior to the event, and it will be held on March 17th from 5:45 PM EDT – 7:30 PM. Even better- you can drink Guinness while cooking this delicious dinner. Bravo Maine was smart for choosing Facebook as their platform, as anyone can join from anywhere. This event is COVID-19 friendly and simple. Bravo, Bravo Maine.
